What makes Cosecha different than Mitaca?!
This is our second offering from Finca el Mirador from the 2016 harvest. This particular lot bears the name "Cosecha" because it comes from the larger of the two yearly harvest periods; a common thing in many parts of Colombia. El Mirador's "cosecha" starts in October and ends in December and represents about 70% of the yearly production, while the "mitaca" or fly crop is in June and July and represents the remaining 30%.
For the most part, these coffees are quite similar but we, at NEAT, observed that the cosecha lot has a little bit more dark fruit, baking spices and a little heavier body. Both are beautiful coffees that are exemplary of a special place.
Tasting Notes: red berries, molasses, flowers
