Mexico is back on the menu!!
This is our second year buying from Mexico and this year we went direct. We spent some time in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas with our agent, Jesús Salazar of Cafeologia. Jesús runs a very successful roasting business in Chiapas as well as a number of cafés throughout Mexico. Jesús also has very good relationships with farmers in many parts of Chiapas as was so helpful as we began to establish ourselves in Mexico. He and his team helped source this coffee as well as were the front line for quality control. We are so grateful to be partnered with him.
Our first coffee from this project is from a farmer named Luis Ordoñez. His farm, La Piedra, is in Amatenango de la Frontera which is down right along the Guatemalan border. He is cultivating old-stock Typica and Bourbon between 1400 and 1600 masl. It is not an overstatement to say this is one of the best Mexican coffees we have ever tasted.
Tasting Notes: Blackberry, Red Wine, Dark Chocolate
